Lady Bobcats Players Stand out in Dragon Fire Tourney

MLB was represented well in the 2011 Collierville High Dragon Fire Holiday Tournament as several of the organizations players made the All-Tourney team and even MVP honors this year.

The youngest to represent is Houston High Sophomore guard and leading scorer Aysha Harris.  Aysha showed even in her youth she is primed to make a great run in this years event with her steady play and leadership averaging a smooth 13pts per game.

Next would be our sharp shooter pg from Arkansas Timesha Pettigrew.  Timesha is Senior guard for Marion High.  Timesha held her team down with her great outside shooting and ability to make plays for others averaging 17pts per game.

Next on the list is our other sharp shooting senior guard Arkela Ware-Jones from Fairley High.  Arkela was able to score in many ways as she found herself running point guard and playing shooting guard to lead her team and finish with 15pts per game.

Next would be the "Beast from the East" Southwind High senior post Jasmine McAllister.  Big Mac showed she was the best post player in this event as she controlled the boards, contested shots & averaged a powerful 12pts per game

Finally, the MVP the event was none other than Southwind High senior guard Bianca Cage.  Bianca was clearly the most dominate guard in the event.  She played well on both ends on the court.  Despite being in foul trouble, Bianca managed to have scoring outputs of 27pts, 17pts, 18pts & 29pts on her way to MVP Honors and the first prize to place in the trophy case for the Southwind High Girls Basketball Program

Pressure

Snowden is on the way to possibly another undefeated season. This year the gain a fiesty little 6th grader in Jireh Washington. Jireh Washington and Miyah Barnes handle the guard spots.  Snowden this year probably have the most craftiest forwards in Middle school by far the the Biggest in Kyla Green, Kayla Williams and Rodrea Echols.  Echols can also be deadly at the 1 or the 2.  Dejah Montgomery, who is out injured for the first half of the season is set to return after the holiday break will bring more rapid fire to the pressure oriented team.  Snowden is out for a 3 peat for the MIAA City Championship. Head Coach Rashad Haynes performed tremendously as the top middle school coach in the city.  The question is will he go to the next level and take a high school position soon.

Lady Bobcats Select Logan Hammonds Commits to UAM

Saturday afternoon, Arlington High senior & Memphis Lady Bobcat Select standout, Logan Hammonds committed to the University of Arkansas Monticello.  Logan was impressed with the campus as well as its Nursing program.  She is also excited with the opportunity to come right in and play huge minutes during her freshman year.  Logan with her 6'0 frame has the skill to play outside were she is deadly from beyond the 3 and physical enough to bang inside.  Logan was a huge piece in her club teams offense as she kept teams honest with her shooting ability.

Logan Hammonds is a senior at Arlington High School.  Her head coach David Offerle is excited with the team this year because of their potential of a run for the State tournament

The Middle School Season is just around the corner... 3 peat hopefuls for Green Dogs.

Will there be a repeat? Who will grasp hold of the middle school torch this season?  Will Snowden continue their reign in dominating the court or will be Hickory Ridge that will come in and pick up the pieces and take charge?  Snowden is said to be the best in the league, only time will tell.  It may just be some new come in and take over.  The MIAA Middle School Jamboree will be hosted November 5, 2012.  The Jamboree will be hosted at Colonial Middle School and the newly opened Kate Bond Middle School.  Click Here to preview the schedule to catch some of the action.
In the meanwhile who will take the Shelby County Middle School top rankings.  That will be an interesting league this year as Mt. Pisgah and Schilling being projected the top of each division. Leave you comments in our comment section, G7 will be glad to here from you.
